iTero Digital Scanner Makes Getting Fitted for Invisalign a SNAP!

Orthodontists conventionally used physical impressions of teeth to not only create a history of patients starts to finish progress for their orthodontic treatments but to send out to a lab (Invisalign) to have their teeth aligners custom made.  Many of us remember those gooey, nasty trays of impression goop that would gag us as the impression material set up.  And if the impression didn’t turn out accurately enough, we would have to go through that awful process all over again.

Not any more!  Your local Grand Rapids Orthodontist at Miller Orthodontics uses a proprietary digital device – the iTero Digital Scanner, a hand-held camera that captures all of the details inside your mouth, both upper and lower arches in a pain-free, quick procedure.

It is all about patient comfort.  There are no side-effects or radiation.

With the iTero scanner, Dr. Miller or one of his expertly trained assistants will quickly capture a digital impression of a patient’s teeth and through the integration of the camera, the captured data, and highly accurate CAD software, will turn the scan into a digital 3-D model that can be sent through the Internet to Invisalign for the custom aligners to be made.

How Exactly Does iTero Work!

With the latest in optical technology, the iTero scanner digitally captures the gums and precise details of the teeth from both arches.  A hand-held wand, the iTero scanner will scan a patient’s entire inner mouth in as little as two to three minutes, then rendering a digital 3-D impression of the teeth and soft tissue structures.  The Orthodontist or assistant manning the scanner sees on a large computer screen the progress of the scan to make sure nothing is missed that must be included in the scan.  Once all the data has been captured, the iTero software will generate a perfect 3-D model.  That model is then uploaded directly to a lab where it can be used to make teeth liners or even a printed 3-D model.  The iTero scanner is not just limited to Invisalign treatments.  It can be used to determine other orthodontic solutions and used as an evaluation tool for initial orthodontic consultations.

At Miller Orthodontics, Dr. Miller has been ranked in the Top 1% of Invisalign providers worldwide and the iTero scanner is one of the key technologies used to achieve incredible orthodontic results for his patients.
